CLEVELAND — Hello from LeBron country, where Republicans are hoping some of this city’s newfound winning ways will rub off on them heading into this fall’s election. Georgia’s delegates and alternates are here, as is the AJC team including yours truly, and the delegation got things started earlier today with a lunchtime speech from Sen. David Perdue.

You can read the Political Insider’s write-up on Perdue’s speech here, but in a press gaggle afterward I asked the senator a question that’s been on my mind for a while. After all the talk about his international business experience during his own race as an “outsider” two years ago, how does he react to Donald Trump’s talk about bringing jobs back — including through some strong-arm tactics that aren’t really in keeping with traditional GOP dogma about simply ensuring the business environment is attractive to companies? Here’s what he said:

“We may disagree on the tactics, (but) the objective is the same. The tactics are, let’s fix why they’re over there in the first place. Let’s create a level playing field from a trade standpoint, which he is talking about. Let’s get our tax structure competitive with the rest of the world, which we have the highest corporate tax rate, (and) we’re the only country left that has a repatriation tax. Get rid of that, and create a level playing field from a trade standpoint, and you’ll see more of a balance.

“There are some high-labor intensive products made overseas that are going to be very difficult to bring back in the short term. But we see textiles being reinvigorated in the South right now to some degree because of just-in-time capabilities in technology, but the world is a global economy, it’s a global marketplace. While there might be nuances that I might be a little nervous about, overall I agree totally.”

Strange Kyle did not ask Perdue about his constitutional duty to prevent the Supreme Court being deadlocked.

Textiles being reinvigorated in the South? What century does Purdue think we are in?

Eye wonder

The words "nuance" and "Trump" belong together in much the same way as do the words "Pope," "condom" and "male prostitute."

Which hole was Perdue speaking out of when he . . . um . . . expelled those gems?

We can look at Perdue's record of outsourcing jobs and tell what he is about. Lower taxes for corporations, cutting medicare and SS,trickle down economics.Same old talking points.

Great summary of Scott Baio's qualifications to speak at RNC convention:

Hope Kyle takes good notes. could be most important speaker.

‘Mr. Trump, Scott Baio…,’ and he said, ‘Oh my god!’ And he said to me, ‘Do you want to speak?’ and I said, ‘Here?’ and he goes, ‘No, no, at the convention!’ And I went, ‘Ugh… o…okay,’ and we went inside the house where the fundraiser was.”

Kyle has no problem profiling our Senator who has yet to apologize for his "prayer" :No wonder Trump loves this racist bigot.

""First, here’s what Perdue told the few hundred people in the audience at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority conference before transitioning into his boilerplate speech on the impending debt and defense crises:

“I think we are called to pray. I think we’re called to pray for our country, for our leaders and yes, even for our president. In his role as president I think we should pray for Barack Obama. But I think we need to be very specific about how we pray. We should pray like Psalms 109:8 says. It says, ‘Let his days be few, and let another have his office.”

The joke — coincidentally told in a hotel facing the neighborhood in which the Obamas will live after leaving the White House in January — prompted laughs and applause from the crowd before Perdue continued on to talk about the debt.

But the remarks were quick to draw reprimands on Twitter, particularly in regard to the lines that follow Psalms 109:8:

“May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.

May his children be wandering beggars; may they be driven from their ruined homes.

May a creditor seize all he has; may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.”""""

I am sure there is a post by Kyle condemning Perdue. I am having trouble finding it.

When Perdue and Trump talk of "leveling the playing field", are they speaking of lowering wages here in the US, or somehow raising wages in the rest of the world?

How do they hope to achieve that?

Bruno 2 has no problem with his  fascist nominee stirring up bigotry and racial tensions, Mr. Law and Order  has done more to set back racial  divisions than any president  since Reagan went to Philadelphia Mississippi as his first campaign speech as the GOP nominee.

@lvg Hillary is a female.  So it should be Ms. Law and Order as the fascist stirring up bigotry and racial tensions.

Hope Trump goes off message responding to latest Hillary ads like he did morning of roll out of his conservative Kewpie doll Pence. Alpha males can't stand women ridiculing them.

Competing ideas within A political party can render positive results just as competition among businesses...the taxpayer/consumer wins.

After watching Leslie Stahl's interview of Trump/Pence, I'm not convinced Trump is willing to concede on his "ideas". He's gonna have to learn humility for that to happen.

Have a good time and stay safe, Kyle.

So is Kasich and the RNC going to infringe the second amenment rights of protesters who are allowed to open carry in Cleveland?

@lvg He already said he does not have the power to infringe on their constitutional rights. Try to pay attention.

I am not enamored of David Perdue.  I believe Michelle Nunn would have served our state much better and wiser than has David Perdue, as its junior senator.

She lost, Mary. Get over it or move. We Georgians don't like left wing policies. Go move to Chicago or San Fran.

@Broxton Anyone who believed Mr. Outsourcer's lies should go and vote the Neofascist liar  who is being nominated by the Stupid Party.

Do you remember what our junior senator told us. He was going to bring jobs, push term limits and get fair tax. He has done nothing. He portrayed himself as outsider. That lasted until his first meeting with Mitch. He is all mouth like his cousin. He cares about rich and corporations and undermining and criticizing our country. He is a rich guy that decided he would dabble in politics and retire on the taxpayers dime and he is doing it just like so many old, rich Republicans. They always have criticism but no solutions.

I am a seven generation Georgian, punk. This is my state and we are going to take it back from people like you who have nothing to offer except anger and smart comments. Keep supporting these guys who do nothing for us.
