Let’s see how this goes …

I haven’t done a standalone open thread since we changed formats, because the comment design meant it would look pretty weird. I don’t know if it will look any less weird with the changes, but if you’re showing up here for the first time and wondering what this post is about, click below or to the upper right to see the comments in this weekend’s open thread …

WHINEY AREN'T YOU CONS TIRED OF LOSING??

Losing is what conning con cons do best. You could even say it's their raison d'être. Unfortunately for the rest of us, it affects us too.

Mrs. Clinton will also have to contend with her role as the architect of “HillaryCare” in the 1990s, a clear forerunner to the Affordable Care Act, which was not popular with Americans when it was passed and now has the approval of only 37%, according to a recent Gallup poll.

Ain't that^^ the truth?

Another source of trouble for Democrats: The proposed Keystone XL pipeline, which is enormously popular—59% of Americans are in favor, 31% against, according to a Pew poll this month. With the project so heavily favored, the president could score an easy win by backing the pipeline, but instead he has aligned himself with the elitist, environmentalist left led by billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer.

Obama's got a bigger carbon footprint than Keystone will ever have.

A Rasmussen poll released Nov. 18 found that 53% of likely voters opposed the amnesty without congressional approval, while 34% approved. Moreover, 62% of those polled said that the president lacks the legal authority to take the action without congressional approval, and 55% said Congress should challenge the executive order in court.

You know, we do appreciate all your help.

Thanks.

"And so he has chosen to betray himself in a different way, by becoming the very thing that he once campaigned against: an elected Caesar, a Cheney for liberalism, a president unbound."

Rafe Hollister,

You conveniently ignored this nugget from the article you quoted below. If you were capable of honesty, you'd see it is the essence of why the president has no choice but to go it alone. Good on him.

"Second, congressional abdication. This is the point that liberals raise, and plausibly, in President Obama’s defense: It isn’t just that he’s been dealing with an opposition party that’s swung to the right; it’s that this opposition doesn’t know its own mind, collectively or sometimes even individually, and so has trouble bargaining or legislating effectively.

This reality has made it harder to cut major bipartisan deals; it’s made it harder to solve problems that crop up within existing law; it’s made it harder for the president to count votes on foreign policy. All of which creates more incentives for presidential unilateralism: In some cases, it seems required to keep the wheels turning; in others, it can be justified as the only way to get the Big Things done."

This Memo/EO solves nothing, there was no rush, these folks have been here for 5 years and they will be here for 5 more.  No one is threatening to deport them.  He is desperate and searching for something he can say he accomplished.  He has given Iran the store and all the merchandise and they still will not agree with his "agreement".  He surrendered totally to the Chinese, just to get them to say they agreed to look at improving their emissions in 2030, if we made drastic improvement in our immediately.

There is nothing in the Constitution that says if things are hard to do legislatively, you can just take unilateral action.  This guy is flailing around like a moth with one wing (a left one at that).

@IReportYouWhine Coolidge was a great President that did not have an ego.   He did what he thought the country needed at that time and left at the peak of his popularity.

Politicians today just can't seem to find the flashing, lighted, exit sign.

Despite Brian Hoyer's best efforts the Falcons lose once again!  It is more and more apparent that Bernie Marcus was the genius behind Home Depot and Arthur Blank must have been in charge of bringing the doughnuts.

Yes, I know this should be on the sports blog, if you can find it, but this blog is so pitiful any contribution is a plus, haha.

On another note:

"11/21/14 7:24 PM EST From:Politico The House Intelligence Committee dismissed on Friday a number of the most persistent myths about the 2012 terrorist attacks at a diplomatic outpost in Benghazi.

The committee, chaired by Republican Chairman Mike Rogers of Michigan, found the U.S. government didn’t fail to send assistance to the Americans under siege by Islamic militants and there was no “stand down order” from the State Department. The committee also dismissed the notion that there was an “intelligence failure” the allowed the attacks to occur."

And on another note Sen. Graham of SC said the report "was full of crap".

With the AJC's new format I doubt even 1 in 50 readers finds and clicks on the "comments" link to see this page.

I would guess many of us regulars are motivated by a desire to reach others beyond the handful of lonely trolls who frequent this and other AJC blogs. As reality sinks in, the AJC will have to modify the format to have any hope of retaining numbers and advertiser revenues.

One of the documents provides smoking gun proof that the Obama White House and the Eric Holder Justice Department colluded to get CBS News to block reporter Sharyl Attkisson. Attkisson was one of the few mainstream media reporters who paid any attention to the deadly gun-running scandal.

In an email dated October 4, 2011, Attorney General Holder’s top press aide, Tracy Schmaler, called Attkisson “out of control.” Schmaler told White House Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz that he intended to call CBS news anchor Bob Schieffer to get the network to stop Attkisson.

Think about this^^ for a second. Start at the very beginning. A plan hatched by the "justice" department to give Mexican drug cartels guns that could be traced back to AmeRican sources, so that the government could gruber up some anti gun legislation. Plans like this are only concocted by three year olds or mental defectives. It's a childish and immature scheme by people who cannot get their laws passed legally.

And, sure enough, they got caught. So how do the react to being caught? Yep, more childishness and immaturity.

Do you think they'll ever announce that "yes, this was a bad idea and we're going to make amends to all the people harmed by it including the family of the slain border agent." Not a chance. They're going to continue to pile up the gruberish like mere children.

This^^ is our government. It's how they approach every idea of theirs. The very assumption is that the AmeRican people will be against it, so we have to fool them.

Why do we allow this?

“I’m following the crowd,” Mr. Curtis said. “If we don’t get no justice, we got to start taking matters into our own hands. They want to go loot, we can go do that. They want to break stuff out, we can go do that, too. Something got to be done to make our voices heard.”

You don't go to breaking other people's stuff just because you have to follow the law. Maybe someday struggling with a law enforcement officer for his weapon will be considered just a casual thing but I doubt it. The cops thinking what is he going to do with the gun once he gets it? Um, sorry.

And of course when Mr. Curtis gets clubbed for smashing apart someone else's livelihood, the repugs will get an earful about it, I'm sure.

MELBOURNE Fla./LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Bill Cosby played a sold-out comedy show on Friday in Florida, despite a wave of sexual assault allegations this week that prompted the cancellation of several upcoming shows and two major studios to halt projects involving the comedian.

I hold no judgements either way, the man is innocent until proven guilty but he stands accused of heinous acts, never the less. What I take issue with is how quickly the democrats have abandoned someone who mainstreamed the black family more than anyone else in history. I used to watch Fat Albert on the tv set when I was just a pup. The man brought the races together in a family setting, giving common ground for us to stand on with one another.

Contrast this to bill clinton, vile rapist and human groper. And his wife doing excuse duty for it. Cosby isn't worth the old overlook, like all hands is? Is it a color of the skin issue, again?

It's as if Obama has a political death wish, and collateral damage is of no consequence to him.

The secretary of Homeland Security and the counsel to the president (OLC) directed the Justice Department to investigate whether the president had the authority to take contemplated actions with regard to illegal immigrants via executive order. In a letter dated Nov. 19, they found he did not. On Nov. 20, he did it anyway.

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/DC-Decoder/Decoder-Voices/2014/1121/Did-Obama-have-authority-for-immigration-action-Justice-memo-raises-questions

I suspect he suffers from arrested development...the consequences of which are the long-term production of DEFENSIVE BEHAVIORS. He, in essence, tries to OVERCOMPENSATE for his lack of control of the process.

Weird!
